cineDESK System

cineDESK System, a virtual cinematic system created by the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), Zurich University of Arts, and the Film EU European Universities Alliance, presents a new digital collaboration tool for producers, directors, cinematographers, production designers and other creative leading roles to work together on the pre-production process of filmmaking. It revolutionises film production with features like real-time rendering, motion capture, and advanced camera controls, offering insights into teamwork dynamics and shaping the future of AI filmmaking in Hong Kong. Through streamlined scene blocking and staging, cineDESK enables collaborative visualisation of cinematic sequences using Unreal Engine for real-time 3D scenes. At present, HKAPA is now gearing up the database of Hong Kong movie scenes for instilling AI modelling into the collaboration tools of the CineDesk System.

Sony present its newly release BURANO CineAlta Digital Film Camera, the first in the world to feature a PL adapter ring, part of the top-tier CineAlta series. This innovative camera incorporates three key AI functions—auto focus, image stabilisation, and an intelligent ND filter. Utilising a sensor akin to VENICE 2's colour science, offering a wide 16-level latitude, built-in optical stabilisation for PL and E-mount lenses, an electronically adjustable ND filter, and AI-driven fast hybrid and subject recognition auto focus, it effectively minimises camera vibrations during handheld or tracking shots, catering to fast scene transitions and dynamic shooting needs, thereby supporting filmmakers and cinematographers in demanding scenarios.
